The ferocious protests in the last few weeks in Paris, which most of us are witnessing, have been provoking sentiments across the rest of the world, especially in Europe, that includes us Maltese and non who inhabit this non insular island,to think, to empathize, understand and sympathize with the so called 'gilets jaunes'(yellow vests). The general feeling is that ultimately we are to pay (in different ways but also and mostly financially) for failed policies implemented by the different administrations which ultimately punish us commoners. Aggressiveness and violence are always condemnable but the Paris protests have probably set a precedent (for our times) that resorting to unified mass unrest actually works

The Khashoggi Assassination - Is The Commissioner Untouchable ?

Image
The assassination of Saudi prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Saudi Arabia's Consulate building two months ago in Istanbul, Turkey, was clearly another attack on journalism, more specifically it appears quite obvious that unfortunately we are witnessing and living in an age were uncovering and reporting corrupt and criminal practices by politicians or other member of governing bodies such as monarchs, is leading to aggressive ways of blocking freedom of speech. Globally it appears that moral values and principles like honesty and integrity are not being set as standards of good governance by a good chunk of individuals or groups in power or aspiring to be in power. These people are not driven by a vocational purpose to work towards achieving improvements in standards of living and towards securing the ideal environmental policies for their territories. Their greed inspires them to resort to illicit measures in order to make more money in short times and avoid settling a

INTRODUCTION - MY FIRST POST - WHY, POLITICS SERVED ?

MY FIRST POST  Why, Politics Served ? I am a student attending a course in Bachelor of Communications at University of Malta, one of our modules happens to be journalism and blogging is one of the assignments which however is different from the other assignments as it will be ongoing till end term. Having found out that University of Malta offers opportunities to mature students, I visited the University advisory office where I was informed about the possibility of joining a course in Communications through an interview. Thankfully I was accepted, its almost 2 months since then and we're already mid-way through term 1. We are much engulfed by our lecturer Mr Edge in learning the trade, blogging is part and parcel of the package, so here I am. I had no hesitation in choosing politics as my topic for this blog, growing up in a very much politically driven Maltese society, I have been quite keenly interested since being a kid, alike most of the nation in reality.
